Easter Basket Ideas for 9 Year Old Boy

I will admit, Bryce's Easter basket is not nearly as festive as Everett's but I like to fill both of the boys baskets with things I know they will truly enjoy and this is it for Bryce. I am adding candy and eggs to this mix of course because what kind of Easter morning is it without a sugar high?! I think both of the boys will be happy with their Easter loot this year!

Easter Basket Ideas for a Toddler

I have been slowly gathering up goodies for the boys Easter Baskets. This is pretty much what the Easter Bunny is bringing Everett. He loves to be outside and bubbles so the touchable bubbles and chalk I am excited to try with him! The Jellycat bunny is so soft, I know he will love cuddling with it at night. My mom growing up always included a new swimsuit in our baskets and I do the same with my boys, its always nice for them to start off the summer with a new suit. And the rash guard is a must for both boys, they both HATE having sunscreen applied all day, if you keep it semi wet they stay cool in it too!

Happenings Lately

I have been slacking on the blog lately, its been a busy few weeks in our house! First up, the leprechaun made it to our house again. I of course could not find all of the little decorations I used last year (they are tucked away in a closet somewhere)  so it was a little bit of a scaled down version this year but the boys loved it!

For Everett I found the cutest book called "Lucky Tucker".. perfect St Patrick's book for a little one! It is colorful and has a cute story line.

I also whipped up these Jello treats. I think they were Bryce's favorite part of the day, actually in his words they were "the best dessert ever". They were super easy! I made lime Jello, then just added Cool-Whip for the clouds and the Air Heads "extreme" for the rainbows. Little tip: make sure the Cool-Whip is nice and cold and not too thawed. If its too warm the "clouds" will melt and not hold the "rainbow" up!

I also made green pancakes for breakfast that day but sadly they did not make it to the camera roll!

This past weekend we mainly hung at home. Saturday we hit up Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream here in Atlanta. It did not disappoint! My favorite flavor was the brambleberry crisp. Its a yummy mix of vanilla ice cream, sweetened oatmeal and blackberry jam... SO GOOD! I also had the dark chocolate flavor and it was good too, it just didn't have the unique punch the brambleberry crisp did.

We ended the weekend with kabobs and then got ready to start the week!

Randoms

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Today I give you some randoms ...

Apparently your lipstick angle says a lot about your personality.

Probably late to the party on this one but this is my LIFE...

If you are a parent , you can thank me later.

Follow the Honest Toddler on twitter, so hilarious and sadly true.

Target is opening "express" stores that offer a scaled down version of merchandise in their traditional stores.

This is a cool idea, but isn't part of the fun of Target wandering aimlessly around the store for an hour??

I think I will stick to the Target I know and love that I can buy things I don't need at and come out wandering how I just spent $100.

Living Room Inspiration

We recently got a new rug in our living room, we found it at Homegoods for a great price and I love it. I am hoping that the grey and pattern will help hide all of the inevitable stains that the boys will get on the rug. *shudder*

Now with the pretty new rug, of course I want to move on to other updates, our coffee table. Our current table is from rooms to go and is about 5 years old. It has honestly held up GREAT. Now, 5 years later and with 2 boys who have played with cars, nerf guns and legos on it , it has seen better days. So I am now on the hunt for a good durable coffee table. Polished stained wood seems out to me because in our house that will last for about 2 minutes. I have found several possible options:

A girlfriend of mine has this one from World Market and I think it would hold up well. Plus the top comes off and you can store stuff inside! Double win in my book...

I LOVE this one from West Elm, however marble can be fragile and can stain so i'm not too sure how it would hold up.

This one would I think blend Matt and my style together nicely. He isn't a huge fan of super modern so this one would give a "warmer" feel and I think the rustic feel of the wood would hide dents.

Also, side note... how do people with small children keep things on their coffee table?! In my search for a kid friendly table I have come across articles on how to style your coffee table. Don't get me wrong the styled tables are beautiful but how do you keep the kids away from the stuff? I can tell you in my house that if we had a coffee table like this , it would last maybe an hour before something was torn or broken.

A girl can dream right right ?

Maybe this is just a mom of 2 boys thing??

Weekending

We had a pretty great weekend in our house, some family time and relaxing! Saturday I got in a workout at Orange Theory and then we took Everett for his first haircut! It was quite the event, lets just say he was not a fan! The place we went, Pigtails and Crewcuts, was so patient with him and even with all of his thrashing around he still ended up with a cute haircut. We will definitely be going back.

Everett was not too sure about the haircut..

Full blown panic mode ...

And the adorable end product ! He looks like such a big boy !

Sunday was a lazy day , we ran some errands and ended the night with some yummy spicy shrimp pasta that Matt made. Hope you had a great weekend too!
